TNPSC Group-II

The TNPSC Combined Civil Service Examination-II (CCEII) is held to select candidates for TNPSC civil services. And
TNPSC Group-II exam is of two categories of post:
      1. Group II (Interview post), and
      2. Group-II A (Non-Interview post)

I.Steps/Stages in the Selection Process of Group II:

The Group II exams take place in three ways:

Preliminary Exam:
1. They conduct exams in an Objective type or multiple-choice question (MCQ) format
2. The exam has a total of 300 marks, and the minimum passing score is:
     – the candidate has to score 90 marks.
3. There is no negative marking
Main Exam & Interview: 
1. Exam is in the descriptive (written) format:
2. And it is of two papers:
   -Paper I- General English/Tamil (40/100) marks.
Note: (This paper is compulsory and the candidate has to obtain 40 marks out of 100. The answer sheet of the candidate who passes in this paper alone will be valued in paper II)
   -Paper II- General Studies-(102/340) marks.
3. Interview: 40 marks are allotted for Interview. Those who are selected for the main exams are called for an interview.

Please note that candidates who pass a degree in Distance Education must have passed SSLC (10th) and then Higher Secondary (+2). So, if they obtain a degree in Distance Education after passing the SSLC (10th exam), they will face disqualification.

III.Scale of Pay:

The TNPSC Group II posts have a pay scale as follows:
Rs.37,200 -Rs.1,17,600.

Application Fees:

One-time Registration Fee: Rs.150/-(Valid for the duration of 5 years)
Examination Fees: Rs.100/-
Main Exam Fee: Rs.150 /-

Important Documents needed for the application:
IV.Certificates to be submitted are the following:
  • SSLC/HSC Certificate (Date of Birth Verification)
  • Priority Selection for Tamil Medium (PSTM) Certificate (Who studied in Tamil Medium)
  • Disability Certificate (for PH candidates)
  • No Objection Certificate
  • Additional Supporting Documents for Reservation
  • Educational Certificates (as specified in the application)
  • Community Certificate
  • Typewriting/Shorthand Certificates

Note: To be selected under the PSTM quota, the candidate must have studied in Tamil Medium from SSLC, 12th, and degree.

V. Id and Photographs needed:
  • Your Photo with your signature on it should be uploaded – (165×123) pixels in dimension, and below 50 kb in jpg format.
  • A scanned copy of the signature should be uploaded – (80×125) pixels in dimension, and below 20 kb in jpg format.
  • Candidates are required to submit Identification Documents such as Aadhar, driver’s license, PAN card, passport, or voter in the application and so they must also carry the hard copy of the ID which is uploaded, along with their hall ticket on the day of the Exam.
VI. Documents needed for verification after being selected for Group II:
  • Educational Qualification Certificates: Your SSLC (10th) certificate, your higher secondary (12th) certificate and your Graduation certificate for Age proof.
  • Community Certificate: To specify your community as (SC, ST, OBC, & others)
  • Nativity Certificate (if necessary): If you’re claiming to be a resident of Tamil Nadu. So you should submit a nativity certificate.
  • Differently Abled Certificate (For physically handicapped candidates): If you have a disability, include a certificate to ensure it.
  • No Objection Certificate (NOC): If you have a current job, get permission from your Manager.
  • Photo ID Proof: Show a valid photo ID like an Aadhar card, voter ID, passport, or driver’s license.
  • Passport-size Photographs: Attach recent photos (colour) as instructed.
  • Payment Receipt: As proof of application fee payment.
  • Self-Declaration Form: Complete a form saying you don’t have any criminal history and disciplinary actions.
  • Other Supporting Documents: which are mentioned in the official notice, certificates like (experience certificate).
  • Two copies of the conduct certificate are to be submitted.
