The TET, a state-level examination, is conducted by the Teachers Recruitment Board (TRB) to recruit teachers in Tamil Nadu. Candidates who successfully clear this test become eligible for teaching positions in the state.
Roles and duties of TN TET:
In simple terms, TNTET in Tamil Nadu conducts teacher eligibility tests, sets exam standards, creates test content, handles registration and exams, evaluates results, provides certificates, gives policy suggestions, and maintains candidate records to uphold teaching standards in the state.
Selection process:
- TNTET 2023 examination is conducted offline with a pen-paper-based mode.
- Each candidate receives their individual OMR sheet, and they should ensure the sheet’s seal is intact before starting the exam.
- Both Paper 1(Classes 1 to 5 teachers) and Paper 2 (Classes 6 to 8 teachers) feature objective questions, specifically Multiple Choice type (MCQs) with four answer choices. Candidates must choose the most suitable answer.
- Each paper has a duration of 3 hours. -Both papers comprise 150 questions, with Paper 1(Classes 1 to 5 teachers ) divided into 5 sections and Paper 2 (Classes 6 to 8 teachers) into 4 sections.
- The minimum qualifying cut-off in the TNTET Exam is (90/150) marks for the General category, while for OBC, SC, and ST categories, it is (82.5/150) marks.
