The Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) conducts, Group-VI Exams to select candidates for the Forest Apprentice positions in forest departments.
I.Steps/Stages in Selection Process:
i) The Group-VI will be of 3 Papers:
- To qualify for Part A of Paper 1, candidates must attain a minimum of 60 marks, constituting 40% of the total score of 150. However, it’s important to note that the marks obtained in Part A will not be considered for ranking purposes.
- The evaluation of answer sheets for Paper 1 (Part B), Paper 2, and Paper 3 will only occur if candidates satisfy the minimum mark requirement in Part A.
- Furthermore, candidates can choose any two subjects from the provided list, with the condition that they cannot pick more than one subject from the same group.
ii) The minimum mark to be scored by the candidates:
- Candidates must achieve a minimum of 60 out of 150 marks in Paper 1 (Part A).
- For Reserved category candidates, the required marks for Paper 1 (Part B), Paper 2, Paper 3, and the interview are (255/850)marks, while for General categories, it is (340/850) marks. The mark is of same as Group VII-A

Note: Candidates who obtain a degree through Distance Education must have passed the SSLC (10th) and then the Higher Secondary (+2) exams. Earning a degree through Distance Education after passing the SSLC (10th exam) will result in disqualification.
III.Scale of Pay:
The group-VI pay scale is as follows:
Rs.37,700 –Rs. 1,38,500

One-time registration fee: Rs.150/-( its valid for 5 years)
examination fee: Rs.150/-

IV.Certificates to be submitted are the following:
- SSLC/HSC Certificate (Date of Birth Verification)
- Priority Selection for Tamil Medium (PSTM) Certificate (who studied in Tamil Medium)
- Disability Certificate (for PH candidates)
- No Objection Certificate
- Additional Supporting Documents for Reservation
- Educational Certificates (as specified in the application)
- Community Certificate
- Typewriting/Shorthand Certificate
NOTE: To select a candidate under the PSTM quota, the authorities require the candidate to have studied in Tamil Medium from SSLC, 12th, and degree.
V.Id and Photographs needed:
- Ensure the photo with a signature is uploaded with dimensions of 165×123 pixels and is below 50 kb in jpg format.
- Upload a scanned copy of the signature with dimensions of 80×125 pixels, keeping it below 20 kb in jpg format.
- Upload the scanned image of the left thumb imprint in jpg format, keeping it below 50 kb.
- Applicants must provide identification documents like Aadhar, driver’s license, PAN card, passport, or voter ID during the application process and bring a physical copy of the uploaded ID along with their exam hall ticket on the exam day
VI. Documents needed for verification after being selected in group VI:
- You must submit your SSLC (10th) certificate, your higher secondary (12th) certificate, and your graduation certificate as proof of your educational qualifications for age verification.
- You need to provide a community certificate to specify your community as (SC, ST, OBC, & others).
- Present a valid photo ID such as Aadhar card, voter ID, passport, or driver’s license.
- Attach recent colour passport-size photographs as instructed.
- Provide a payment receipt as proof of your application fee payment.
- Complete a self-declaration form stating that you have no criminal history or disciplinary actions.
- Submit any other supporting documents mentioned in the official notice, such as experience certificates if required.
- Include two copies of a conduct certificate with your submission.
