TNPSC-District Education Officer Examination

The District Education Officer exams are conducted to choose candidates for the role of District Education Officer.

I. Steps/Stages in the Selection Process:

Exams for the District Education Officer are conducted in three phases:

i) Preliminary exam: in which the candidate has to score (90/300) marks for the Reserved category and (120/300) marks for the General category.
Note: the candidate who cleared the prelims exams is only called for the Mains exam.

ii) Mains exam: The Mains exam is of 4 papers in which the candidate has to score
  – in Paper I the minimum marks to get qualified (40/100) marks.
Note: if the candidates do not get the qualifying marks in paper 1 Paper2,3&4 will not be evaluated. 

– In Papers 2, 3, and 4 and interviews the candidates have to score a minimum of (306/1020) for the reserved category and (408/1020) marks for the General category.
Note: the exams Paper2,3&4 are for 300 marks and the interview is for 120 marks, the marks scored in prelims and Paper I will not be taken into account for ranking and merit.

You need a Master’s Degree in subjects like Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Economics, Geography, History, Commerce, Tamil, or English from a recognized university. Your Master’s Degree should have a minimum of 50% marks, or if it’s graded, it should be at least “O,” “A,” or “B.”
 
You must have a B.T. or B.Ed. Degree from a recognized university.
 
You should have studied Tamil in your Intermediate, Pre-Universit Rs.56900-Rs.  
209200y, or Higher Secondary course as either Part-I or Part-II.

Please note that candidates who obtain a degree in distance education must have already passed SSLC (10th) and then Higher Secondary (+2). If you get a degree in distance Education after passing SSLC (10th exam), you will face disqualification

III.Scale of Pay:

The salary pay scale for the TNPSC Combined Library and Information Services is as follows:

Application Fees:

One-time Registration Fee: Rs.150/- (valid for 5 years)
Prelims exam fee: Rs.100/-
Mains exam fee: Rs.200/-

Important Documents needed for the application:
IV.Certificates to be submitted are the following:
  • SSLC/HSC Certificate (Date of Birth Verification)
  • Priority Selection for Tamil Medium (PSTM) Certificate (who have studied in Tamil Medium)
  • Disability Certificate (for PH candidates)
  • No Objection Certificate
  • Additional Supporting Documents for Reservation
  • Educational Certificates (as specified in the application)
  • Community Certificate
  • Typewriting/Shorthand Certificates

Note: to get selected under PSTM quota the candidate ought to have studied in Tamil Medium since schooling SSLC, 12th and degree

V.Id and Photographs needed:
  • Ensure the photo with a signature is uploaded with dimensions of 165×123 pixels and is below 50 kb in jpg format.
  • Upload a scanned copy of the signature with dimensions of 80×125 pixels, keeping it below 20 kb in jpg format.
  • Upload the scanned image of the left thumb imprint in jpg format, keeping it below 50 kb.
  • Applicants must provide identification documents like Aadhar, driver’s license, PAN card, passport, or voter ID during the application process and bring a physical copy of the uploaded ID along with their exam hall ticket on the exam day
VI. Documents needed for verification after selection:
  1. Educational Qualification Certificates: Your SSLC (10th) certificate, higher secondary (12th) certificate, and graduation certificate for Age proof.
  2. Community Certificate: To specify your community as (SC, ST, OBC,&others)
  3. Nativity Certificate (if necessary): So if you claim to be a resident of Tamil Nadu, submit a nativity certificate.
  4. Differently Abled Certificate (For physically handicapped candidates): If you have a disability, include a certificate to ensure it.
  5. No Objection Certificate (NOC): If you have a current job, get an NOC from your employer.
  6. Photo ID Proof: Show a valid photo ID like an Aadhar card, voter ID, passport, or driver’s license.
  7. Passport-size Photographs: Attach recent photos (colour) as instructed.
  8. Payment Receipt: As a proof of application fee payment
  9. Self-Declaration Form: Complete a form saying that you don’t have any criminal history and disciplinary actions
  10. Other Supporting Documents: These are mentioned in the official notice, like experience certificates (if needed)
  11. Two copies of the conduct certificate from reputed persons of your locality.
