The Department of Science and Technology, New Delhi, initiates the VAIBHAV Fellowship to promote academic and research collaborations between Indian institutions and leading international counterparts. This fellowship aims to enrich the research ecosystem in India’s Higher Educational and Scientific Institutions by fostering the mobility of faculty and researchers from overseas institutions to India. Eligible candidates holding Ph.D./M.D./M.S. degrees will receive an award of USD 5,000 along with additional benefits.
Eligibility of The VAIBHAV Fellowship
- To be eligible, the applicant must currently reside abroad as a Non-Resident Indian (NRI), Person of Indian Origin (PIO), or Overseas Citizen of India (OCI).
- The candidate should possess a Ph.D./M.D./M.S. degree from a recognized university.
- They need to be a researcher affiliated with an overseas academic, research, or industrial organization, showcasing a successful track record in research and development, and having associations with an institution ranked within the top 500 in the QS World University Ranking.
- The applicant must have intentions to conduct research work for a minimum of 1 month to a maximum of 2 months annually, spread over 3 years, at a research or academic institution in India.
Benefits of the VAIBHAV Fellowship
- Fellowship recipients will receive a grant of USD 5,000 (equivalent in Indian currency).
- Business class international travel will be arranged from their institute’s location to the designated workplace in India.
- Accommodation in a 3 or 4-star hotel will be provided.
- A contingency fund of INR 1,00,000 per annum will be allocated.
- Domestic travel for academic purposes, up to two stations annually, will be covered.
- The host institute supporting the scientist will receive INR 10,00,000 per year, covering office/lab accommodation and facilitating various infrastructure support.

- Attach qualification certificates to validate academic credentials.
- Provide an undertaking certificate from yourself, along with a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from your parent institute.
- Obtain an endorsement certificate from the host institute.
- Additionally, include a plagiarism undertaking.
- Ensure that you submit all the required documents in PDF format.
