The POGO-SCOR Visiting Fellowship Programme 2023, presented by the Partnership for Observation of the Global Ocean (POGO) in collaboration with the Scientific Committee on Oceanic Research (SCOR), extends an opportunity to scientists, technicians, postgraduates, and post-doctoral fellows from developing countries with a background in economic transitions. Priority will be given to applicants addressing the following topics:
– Implementation of emerging and cost-effective technologies for ocean observations
– Observation and modelling of floating litter
– Open and coastal ocean observation, modelling, and management
– Data management and time series analysis
– Underwater sound, acoustic observations, and modelling
– Optical measurements of living and nonliving particles
– Physical, biological, and biogeochemical sensors on floats and gliders
– Fixed-point time-series observations contributing to projects like Ocean SITES, OBIS, IODE Ocean Data Portal, WOD, and other shared data systems
– Large-scale, operational biological observations, including biomolecular and biodiversity aspects (e.g., biological EOVs, CPR, OBON, and other programs)
Selected fellows will receive a monthly stipend, living expenses, and additional benefits. POGO is a global forum established in 1999 by leaders of major oceanographic institutions to advance worldwide ocean observation. SCOR is an international non-governmental non-profit organization dedicated to fostering global cooperation in planning and conducting oceanographic research and addressing methodological and conceptual challenges associated with it.

To qualify, the applicant must:
– Hold Indian citizenship.
– Be a scientist, technician, post-doctoral fellow, or postgraduate student, preferably at the Ph.D. level.
