Staff Selection Commission(SSC):

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) is a government organization in India that is responsible for selecting candidates for a wide range of positions across different ministries, departments, and subordinate offices of the Indian government.
For the first time in January 2023, the SSC opted to hold the Multi-Tasking (Non-Technical) Staff examination in 13 different Indian languages, which includes Urdu, Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, Kannada, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Konkani, Meitei (Manipuri), Marathi, Odia, and Punjabi, in addition to Hindi and English, from the total of 22 official languages recognized in the Indian Republic.

Organization of SSC:

The commission is an affiliated entity of the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) and is composed of a chairman, two members, and a secretary-cum-controller of examinations. The secretary’s position is at the same level as that of an additional secretary to the government of India.

The selection process of the Staff Selection Commission:

  • Tier-I and Tier-II post-exams are Computer-Based Examination
  • Tier-II consists of three papers: Paper-I, Paper-II, and Paper-III, administered on separate shifts or days.
  • Paper-I is mandatory for all candidates.
  • Paper II is exclusively for applicants of the Junior Statistical Officer (JSO) position who passed Tier-I.
  • Paper III is for candidates shortlisted in Tier-I for Assistant Audit Officer and Assistant Accounts Officer positions.
  • Paper I is divided into two sessions: Session I and Session II on the same day.
  • Session I includes Section I, Section II, and Module I of Section III and lasts for 2 hours and 15 minutes.
  • Session II only covers Module II of Section III and is 15 minutes long.

Documents needed for verification:

  1. Aadhaar Card or E-Aadhaar printout.
  2. Voter ID Card.
  3. PAN Card.
  4. Passport.
  5. Driver’s License.
  6. Government School/ College ID card (IF NECESSARY).
  7. Employer ID (Government or PSU).
  8. Any other photo-bearing ID card issued by the Central or State Government
